Kasane
Geography and History
Kasane is a town located in the North-West District of Botswana. The town is close to Africa's 'Four Corners', where four countries almost meet, namely Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Kasane is both the administrative centre of Chobe District and gateway to Chobe National Park. The town is situated about eight kilometres to the east of Kazungula, a village in Botswana. It also is an important point of disembarkation for Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Livingstone in Zambia which are both close-by to Kasane.
Activities/ Attractions
Things to do in Kasane include:
- Chobe Crocodile Farm: located about eight kilometres to the east of Kasane, in the village of Kazungula
- Day trips to Victoria Falls: which is a one hour and 20 minute drive from Kasane, situated 89 kilometres from the town
- Shopping malls
- A Baobab tree with a hollow big enough for humans to enter. The tree was once used as a prison by colonial administrators.
- A snake park: located in Kazungula about eight kilometres from Kasane. The park holds about 50 snakes (17 species) in lovely garden surroundings.
- Kasane Hot Springs: The warm and salty waters of this natural spring are believed to hold medicinal powers. This is also where a wildlife corridor between the villages of Kazungula and Kasane is situated.
- A recreational park
- Pangolin Photo Safaris- Private Day Tours: take part in a morning or afternoon cruise and get some amazing wildlife photographs to treasure forever
- Chobe National Park: the park offers a combination of wildlife, bird life and reptiles along the banks of the Chobe River. This is a photographers dream
