Mopipi
Geography and History
Mopipi is a village located in the Central District of Botswana. It is situated close to Makgadikgadi pans, a large salt pan in the middle of the dry Savanna of North-Eastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world.
The Boteti River is a natural waterway and is located deep in the Kalahari Desert. A river is believed to be as old as the Desert itself. It meanders its way from the Okavango Delta through the Thamalakene River in Maun heading inland to the Makgadikgadi pans. The Boteti stretches from Ngamiland to the main Boteti District where it is used to fill the Mopipi Dam.
