Kgatleng District
Kgatleng, a district of Botswna is the homeland of the Bakgatla people. The capital of the Kgatleng District is Mochudi. Kgatleng district is famous for the Matsieng footprints which belong to a legendary giant and tswana ancestor who emerged from the earth's centre with his people and animals to inhabit the world. According to a Tswana legend, the Kgatleng District is the origins of mankind as evidenced by the 'Matsieng' footprints. The footprints lie imprinted on some rocks in a protected area just 50km north of Gaborone.
In the south, Kgatleng borders the North West Province of South Africa, and to the east it borders South Africa's Limpopo Province.
The major tourist attraction at Kgatleng is the Phuthadikabo Museum at the capital city of Mochudi.
